Sintering is a heat treatment process for coherently bonding particles and improving material strength. Detrimental oxidation or other reactions that may occur during sintering are prevented due to the limited presence of gas. Moreover, vacuum sintering enable a precise setting of temperature-pressure-atmosphere.
Petroceramics applies this process to a wide range of oxide and non-oxide ceramics and composites relevant for automotive and aerospace applications.
In our equipment we routinely sinter different materials including:
- Ceramic Matrix Composites
- Reaction bonded silicon nitride and nitride bonded silicon carbide
- Sintered silicon nitride
- Reaction bonded silicon carbide SiSiC
We can also sinter other high performance customized materials of relative large sizes for different technical sectors e.g. for application at very high temperatures and very high pressures.
